Every year, hundreds of astronomical images are released to the general public by the many telescopes on the ground and in space. Including Chandra, Hubble and Spitzer space telescopes. How does the public perceive these images?

To fully explore the topic of how the public perceives these astronomical images, a group from Chandra, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and experts in the field of aesthetics have formed the Aesthetics and Astronomy group aka the A&A project .
